During my first term, we overcame many previous challenges and moved our district forward. Let’s continue to better our community together.
Accomplishments
OFFICE STATS
- Fielded more than 3,000 constituent phone calls
- Attended over 200 events and meetings in 2021
- Started the “District 6 Business of the Month” that highlighted 12 small businesses
YOUTH INITIATIVES
- Gave $4,000 in scholarships to students from District 6 attending Bethune-Cookman University and Florida A&M University
- Devoted over $20,000 to youth programs and organizations serving District 6 in 2021
COVID-19 RESPONSE
- Partnered with the Orange County Health Department to offer vaccines & testing at 5 sites throughout the year in District 6
- Invested more than $8 million in funding for emergency rental assistance for residents financially impacted by COVID-19.
INFRASTRUCTURE
- More than 25 roads were paved or structurally improved in 2021 and we added speed tables and rumble strips to Bruton Blvd.
- This led to a 10% reduction of speeding on Bruton Blvd.
SERVING OUR SENIORS
- In 2021, the office scheduled more than 500 vaccine appointments for seniors, and coordinated transportation to and from appointments for many
- Hosted an information session with a local attorney for seniors at Pendana Senior Residences at West Lakes to discuss tenant’s rights
WELLNESS
- Created “Conversations with Black Men” to give men in District 6 a safe mental health space to share their concerns
- Established "Get Fit! District 6" to offer physical activity and health care initiatives for our District that includes outdoor events and community partnerships
